You Are Why We Do What We Do
It thrills us that everyone who lights our handmade soy candles knows they are getting a fragrant Ritual Tree candle worthy of the most discriminating nose. ~ Deborah Salmi Founder, Ritual Tree
Before I created Ritual Tree, I bought commercially produced candles from the mall or discount fashion stores. I quickly noticed that the candles had minimal, ‘chemically’ fragrances, burned away quickly, and were made using cheap materials in factories overseas.
Then, this happened…
One day, when I moved a picture hanging in my living room, I saw that the wall around where it hung was gray with soot. It came from the candles I was burning!
That’s when I vowed to clean up my indoor environment and create a candle that would exceed the quality of all the others. I set out to create the most fragrant, non-toxic soy candles for the most health conscious people in the world – starting with my own family and friends.
After my peeps used my soy candles in their homes and told me how clean burning they were and how beautiful they smelled, I realized that I was on the right path.
There were challenges…
Making great soy candles was more difficult than I imagined.
On the surface, it’s pretty easy to make a candle in the kitchen, but I wanted to up the quality to ensure that what resulted was an eco-friendly candle that was long-lasting and smelled AH-MAH-ZING.
I was determined to find quality US-based, sustainable, non-toxic materials, and kept at it until I was satisfied. But, after all that effort, would candle fans like what I was creating?
To find out, I started offering small-sized soy candles at local markets and asking customers for feedback. It was overwhelmingly positive! Finally, fragrances that filled the room and didn’t release unhealthy toxins into the air.
This opened doors to more markets and local stores. Word was getting around about the quality of our candles.
Through it all, the response to our soy candles has been astounding.
The best part…
Ritual Tree is now online, meeting new friends, and growing fast. I couldn’t be more grateful.
